This ceramic is high in thermal conductivity, and electric conductivity. (Resistivity: 25.7 OYbcm; Cte 7.7 Yb10, -6degC-1). It shares the same properties with titanium diboride.
The NbB2 part is usually heated pressed, spark plasma sintered or hot pressed. Mechanical pressure is then applied to the powder. Finally, it's machined into form. NbB2 is difficult to sinter due to its covalency with surface oxides. The powders are then heated or spark plasma sintered.
