Characteristic


Titanium, atomic number 22, is in the fourth period and IVB group in the periodic table.It is a silver-white transition metal characterized by light weight, high strength, metallic luster and resistance to wet chlorine gas corrosion.The two most useful properties of titanium are corrosion resistance and the highest strength-to-weight ratio in the metal.Titanium has a metallic luster, ductility, the main characteristics of the density is small, mechanical strength, easy to process.The plasticity of titanium depends mainly on its purity.The purer titanium is, the greater its plasticity.

Application


Titanium is an alloy element of steel (iron titanium), titanium will reduce the size of the steel grain size, and as a deoxidizer titanium will reduce the oxygen content of steel;Adding titanium to stainless steel will reduce the carbon content.Titanium is often alloyed with other metals such as aluminum (modified grain size), vanadium, copper (hardened), magnesium, and molybdenum.Titanium mechanical products (sheets, plates, tubes, wires, forgings, castings) are used in industry, aerospace, leisure and emerging markets.Titanium powder is used in pyrotechnics to provide bright burning particles.
