Nano-silver and photocatalyst antibacterial analysis

2018-09-05
Nanosilver and photocatalyst are two commonly used nano antibacterial materials, but for ordinary consumers, they are not aware of the antibacterial principle of nanosilver and photocatalyst and the difference between them:

Nano silver sterilization principle:
Nanosilver interferes with cell wall synthesis, damages cell membranes, inhibits protein synthesis, and interferes with the synthesis of nucleic acids, affecting the growth and reproduction of microorganisms. No light or extra energy is required throughout the process.

Photocatalyst sterilization principle:
After being excited by ultraviolet light, nano-titanium dioxide generates hydrogen radicals (OH ̄) and odor negative ions (O3 ̄), and attacks the bacteria through hydrogen radicals (OH ̄) and odor negative ions (O3 ̄) to achieve bactericidal effect. In the process, ultraviolet light is required to stimulate the action.

Sterilization duration effect:

Nano-silver has a long-lasting bactericidal effect, and the photocatalytic bactericidal effect can only last for up to one year.

Therefore, although the same nano-products, the effect of nano-silver is significantly higher than that of photocatalyst.
